There are several components of the 2-dimensional cube, each having a different shape and color. The shapes can be rectangle, L-shape, T-shape or anything that can result from squares glued together. When one or more of these squares in a component has an indented circle, think of it as a button that you can press and cause the entire shape to flip. Your goal is to fit these pieces into the designated area, in light gray, which is the 2-dimensional cube.

This cube puzzle is more challenging than a sliding puzzle because each component has a different geometric shape. You have to use spatial logic, not just strategic thinking, to fit the pieces together. So it is great for stimulating both sides of the brain. Some times you have to flip lego pieces to fit them properly. Even though it is a 2D cube game, the logic involved is the same as the one you would need to solve a 3D cube game.

In addition, this app offers a Sliding Puzzle and a Memory Game. In the Sliding Puzzle, pick one of three levels and click Randomize. This mixes up the squares making it challenging for you to piece together the original image. As for the Memory Game, click Start to flip the game cards which exist in pairs. To turn them face up again, you must click on the matched pairs. Memory games like this one boost short-term memory and are known to battle Alzheimer's.
